Purpose This unit standard is for those people employed in automotive sales areas. People credited with this unit standard are able to arrange selective financing, and provide insurance advice for a vehicle, machine, or components.

Prerequisites: Unit 382, Demonstrate knowledge of payment types, and carry out office procedures in an automotive company; Unit 397, Interpret legislation relevant to motor vehicle sales; or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.

The following legislation and amendments are required to be consulted and followed where applicable:

Finance terminology is interpreted in simple language to enable customers to understand all documents presented to them.
1.3 Customer's financial capabilities are assessed according to the lending institution's criteria.
1.4 A customer is sold the selected finance package that best suits the needs of all parties.

2.1 Different types of vehicle insurance are described to the customer.
Range Comprehensive, 3rd Party Fire and Theft, 3rd Party.
2.2 Refer a customer to the insurance option that meets their personal needs.
