People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of workplace security risks, and carry out company security procedures. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of workplace security risks. Evidence requirements 1.1 The effect of stock loss on company profitability is identified. Range 1.2 Methods of displaying stock in secure surroundings are identified. Range 1.3 taking the money from the customer, giving change, point of sale, security, use of safes, security companies, banking procedures. Company procedures to take against personal attack are identified. Range 1.5 layout of premises, layout of stock, customer flow path, staffing, enclosed displays, mirror and electronic surveillance methods. Procedures to handle money in a secure manner are identified. Range 1.4 financial, potential service. staff supervision, security of premises, staff training. Insurance security requirements for business premises are identified. Evidence requirements 2.1 Workplace security measures are carried out according to company policy. Range 2.2 security system activated when unattended; taking measures to prevent theft and loss of equipment, stock, plant, and materials; care and security of customer's property; accounting for goods sold, taken, or removed. Surveillance of unauthorised areas is maintained as required by management.
