The 5th graders will
continue to write
narrative stories.
Students will also
working on the
writing process by
brainstorming and
organizing ideas
using a graphic
organizer. This will
allow students to
better organize their
thoughts before
moving on to the
drafting stage of the
writing process.

students do not
enter the school
building in the
morning until 9:05
am. Please do not
send your child to
school before 9:05
am, as we do not
have the staffing to
supervise them
before this time.

 Birthdays are to be
celebrated in the
cafeteria only.

only store bought
cupcakes are
permitted. Parents
must stay and serve
cupcakes to your

project for writing.

informational text in order to
identify text features and their
role in understanding the text.
They will also be focusing on
text structure and working on
using examples to support
written responses. Please
continue to make sure your
students are reading for at
least 20 minutes every
night. The expectations are
that the students will read at
least 6 books and write short
summaries about each of them
that they can share with their
classmates.

understanding of
magnets and how
they are related to
electricity. They
will do
experiments to
explore this
relationship.
