Students will continue to use their Chrome Books (laptops) throughout their writing process including drafting, editing and publishing. Read All About It! Please note that students do not enter the school building in the morning until 9:05 am. Please do not send your child to school before 9:05 am, as we do not have the staffing to supervise them before this time. Thank you for your help in this matter. The Social Studies Students will be studying and identifying the characteristics and differences between conflict and compromise. Students will use the Colonial time period to evaluate the conflicts and compromises between the Colonies and the British Empire. Science Students will be developing an understanding of the characteristics of energy production and motion. Our students will be begin working on their first quarter project which covers energy production and the development of a theme park roller coaster. The students will be conducting experiments that will help them design their roller coaster. Reading We will begin the year by building up students’ endurance in order to prepare for the beginning of small group instruction. The focus of small group instruction will coincide with writing by using adventure stories as the chosen genre. Please continue to make sure your students are reading for at least 20 minutes every night. Now that the school year has started, we will have a new set of book logs. The expectations are that the students will read at least 6 books and write short summaries about each of them that they can share with their classmates.
