Writing
The 5th graders will
be writing original
myths. We will be
studying Tall Tales
and Myths in reading
groups and students
will apply these
characteristics to
their writing.
Students will also
continue to work on
the writing process
with a focus on
brainstorming and

Students will be using myths,
tall tales and mysteries in order
to identify characteristics of

focusing on point of view and
working on using examples to

your students are reading for
at least 20 minutes every
night. Since a new quarter has
now started, we will have a
new set of book logs. The
expectations are that the
students will read at least 6
books and write short
summaries about each of them
that they can share with their
classmates.
