 Please note that students do not enter
the school building in the morning until
9:05 am. Please do not send your child
to school before 9:05 am, as we do not
have the staffing to supervise them
before this time. Thank you for your
help in this matter.
 All parents must check in at the front
office before going to any classroom,
including portables.
 Birthdays are to be celebrated in the
cafeteria only. Please remember, only
store bought cupcakes are permitted.
Parents must stay and serve cupcakes
to your child’s class only.
 Students will be using their agenda
books to write down their long term
assignments and homework. Please
check them daily.
Math
Students will be focusing on
place value understanding. They
will read and write decimals.
Then, they will use place value
knowledge to explain patterns
when a decimal is multiplied or
divided by a power of ten.
Followed by that, students will
round decimals to the
thousandths place. Students will
add and subtract decimals using
terms such as sum and
difference.
Social Studies
Reading
Students will be studying about
the thirteen colonies and will
analyze the viewpoints of the
Patriots and Loyalists. They
will use the Colonial time
period to evaluate the conflicts
and compromises between the
Colonies and the British
Empire and the events that led
to the Revolutionary War.
The students will be reading non-fiction text and
using text features (glossary, captions, etc.) to
build on their understanding of the topic. They will
also focus on the characteristics of tall tales, such
as hyperbole and creation of historical landmarks.
The focus in small group will be to build students’
comprehension skills. Please continue to make
sure your students are reading for at least 20
bbnevery night. The expectations are that the
students will read at least 6 books and write short
summaries about each of them by the end of the
quarter.
Science
Students will be developing an
understanding of the characteristics of
energy production and motion. Our
students will continue working on their
renewable resources project, which covers
energy production and the development of
a theme park roller coaster.
