English Language Arts

This week, we started to talk about classic stories and
ask the question “How are performances similar and different
from written stories?” We read a scene from the play
Invasion from Mars, based on the novel The War of the
Worlds by H.G. Wells. We will read the informational text
The History of the Radio, about the development of radio
since the late 1800s, next week. **This week’s stories and
skills will carry into next week.**

Math

We reviewed the regrouping (traditional way)
method of multiplying this week. Then, students were
introduced to the order of operations rule. The
students should remember to multiply and divide from
left to right before adding and subtracting from left to
right. The next few days will be spent reviewing the
concepts from chapter 2. Thank you for your
flexibility with our test date change. **All classes will
take the chapter 2 math test on Tuesday, November
10th.**

We wrapped up the first chapter for social
studies. All social studies tests have been graded and
returned to students. If you haven’t done so already,
please sign and return the assessment ASAP. Thank
