Reading – Our story this week is
“Passage to Freedom.” Vocabulary
words are diplomat, representatives,
visa, issue, refugees, agreement,
superiors, cable.
Language Arts- We will continue our
study of pronouns. This week we will
focus on reflexive pronouns.
ScienceStudents will study plate tectonics,
earthquakes, and volcanoes the next
two weeks. The star constellation
research paper and illustration are
due on Friday. Anyone ready to
present on Thursday, will receive extra
credit if they are ready.
JUST A REMINDER…
1. January 13th- Kickoff for “City Saver
Coupon Books” Fundraiser. Last
collection will be on Friday 10th
2. February is “Read Across America”
month.
3. February 14th- Math Fun Day and
Valentine Parties. More
information to follow.
4. Mrs. Lunceford has asked that all
students bring their recorders to
music this week!
Math
Students have been adding and
subtracting mixed numbers. Students
will also round and estimate fractions.
Test Friday! Math Superstars Lesson
XIII is today and lesson XIV is due on
Friday.
Social Studies – We will continue our
study of chapter 7(Times of Plenty,
Times of Hardship). This chapter
discusses the U.S. as an Industrial
Nation, the Roaring Twenties, The Great
Depression and The New Deal. Test of
chapter 7 will be Thursday, February 2.
Students will complete a study guide in
class and will bring it home to study
Wednesday night.
