This week, the students learned new
strategies to multiply tens, hundreds and
thousands by a whole number through 10! The
students used graph paper and base ten blocks to
draw out their multiplication problems. We also
learned how to check our work and figure out if our
answers are reasonable through estimating a range.

Science & S.S.
By: Mrs. Lahneman
This week we finished up the science unit with
our end of unit test, as well as cleaning up our plants
stations. The students were excited to get a chance to
bring home their plants to show off their planting
expertise. We then began Social Studies this week with
the location of Pennsylvania in the world, starting with
what hemisphere, what continent, and where exactly in
the U.S.! Our focus will be on helping the students learn
how to use directionality in both their writing and their
speech when describing where things are located. We
also discussed what states border the state of
Pennsylvania. We also focused on the Reading Target
Skills of Main Idea and Details as we read
through pages of lesson one.
