Math By: Mrs. Patel This week we started Unit 2, which begins with chapter 4. This chapter focuses on division. The students should continue to practice their multiplication facts to help support this chapter. We practiced solving division problems with remainders (ex: 47/8). We have not started any long division yet – that will come soon! J The students also learned about 4 ways to interpret a remainder when solving a division word problem. Thank you for signing and returning your child’s Unit 1 math test! They are making a step booklet or power point outlining all the different regions they just studied about. This is a review of what they just learned, and also gives the students an opportunity to apply what they have learned about text structure and how to choose important information from a content area textbook. We are also anticipating the arrival of the new unit materials for our next science unit on ecosystems, and will begin our exciting new scientific venture next week!! Maybe you could chat about what an ecosystem is before the unit even begins!
