POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Statistical Research Associate Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Professional D JOB SUMMARY: Provide a variety of research material and analyses to staff and clients in support of external reporting requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 1. Design instruments for data collection, conduct various types of research, analyze statistical information and provide interpretation of data. 2. Respond to ad hoc data requests; assess informational needs of those requesting assistance; assist in the design of research and evaluation studies as requested. 25% 3. Collect, record, categorize research materials; and maintain databases, records, and reports. 15% 4. Develop and prepare written and oral reports, workshops and/or seminar presentations as requested. 15% 5. Maintain information systems files, and use of these data files to perform longitudinal research analysis and assessment of student activities and outcomes. 10% 6. Attend local and state conferences, seminars, and workshops to maintain up-todate knowledge of institutional research methods and issues. Travel to various locations. 5% 7. Revised: 07/16/09 Page 1 of 4 SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of statistical practices and procedures, laws, rules, and ethics concerning the study of human subjects, and understanding of valid statistical applications; Ability to collect information, identify relevant facts, and derive logical conclusions; knowledge of a variety of quantitative and qualitative research methods; knowledge of the tools of statistical analysis and the ability to understand and analyze quantitative information; knowledge of technical writing skills and the ability to produce professional reports that effectively communicate ideas; ability to work cooperatively with other employees to accomplish organizational goals; ability to work effectively without undue instruction or supervision; and strong communication and interpersonal skills. Equipment Used: Personal Computer, scanners, mainframes, printers, and similar equipment associated with a general office environment.
