POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Director, Institutional Research Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Administrator C JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the management, development, implementation, and direction of a District-wide program of institutional research that provides management with information for decision making. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 1. Develop, implement, manage, and direct all aspects of the district’s institutional research studies. Provides research design and programming support for research and evaluation projects related to the institutional effectiveness efforts, using both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. 30% 2. Direct specialized studies that support planning, evaluation, budgeting, policy formulation, and similar functions involved in the effective management of the District. 20% 3. Direct all District research activities and provide technical assistance to staff who may be conducting authorized studies. 15% 4. Serve as College liaison with state and federal offices regarding matters related to the Institutional Research Program (IRB). Responds to surveys and studies from external agencies. 10% 5. Develop and maintain a variety of data used to support planning, evaluation, resource allocation, and decision-making at all levels of the College. 10% 6. Direct the enhancement, development, and maintenance of the institutional electronic fact site on the College’s internal web page. 5% 7. Develop, maintain, and manage the department databases necessary for the District program of institutional studies. 5% 8. EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years experience in research related position(s). SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated experience working with the internal and external community, strong supervisory and budgeting experience; strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills. Equipment Used: Personal computer and equipment associated with a general office environment. Software Used: A variety of spreadsheet, database, and word-processing and administrative software systems.
