POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Senior Programmer Analyst Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Professional Support H (Technology Support) JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for a significant portion of the information system process in assigned areas including system analysis, file design, programming, and system interface. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 60% 1. Responsible for maintenance and development of the information system process including all facets of planning, system analysis, database and/or file design, system interface of hardware and software, security, and programming. Coordinate with clients, vendors, and consultants. Perform successful testing, create and maintain documentation, and implement programs or processes as assigned. Program through analysis, with the principal emphasis to be balanced and generally dealing with full scale projects with analysis/programming. 2. Support and provide assistance to all clients in all facets of the information system process, including but not limited to preparation of documentation manuals, including any changes or enhancements. Develop, organize, and conduct user training and problem research; provide on-call operational support for problem identification and resolution requiring immediate intervention. 15% 3. Design, develop, plan, research, and investigate solutions to assigned problems, systems, and programs to ensure credibility and accuracy; investigate software systems and programs for College solutions and recommend alternatives, acquisitions, and financial impact. 10% 4. Responsible for the operational effectiveness and efficiency of assigned programs and/or systems to include the development and implementation of operational and College procedures. 5% 5. Develop, recommend, implement, change, and enforce appropriate standards and procedures necessary to support and improve organizational units throughout the College. 5% 6. Skills/Abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, strong analytical skills, ability to process and analyze information accurately, detail oriented, strong creative ability, ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 2. Equipment Used: Personal and mainframe computers, UNIX Dec Alpha Servers, NT servers, printers and a variety of equipment associated with a general office environment. 3. Software Used: Oracle development environment, SQL, SQLPlus, PLSQL, ProC++, ProCobol, UNIX, Microsoft Office including Access, Excel and Word.
