POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: EXTENDED TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Sr. Advisor, Human Resources Sr. Advisor, Human Resources Exempt CATEGORY: Professional GRADE: F JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing advanced complex support to the Executive Director, Human Resources in developing and implementing procedures, initiatives, project support, and training to the HR Department that will enhance delivery of HR services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 1. Assist the Executive Director in developing, implementing, administering, and evaluating the District's Human Resources policies and procedures; ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations; ensure best practices. 2. Responsible for a wide range of HR generalist activities and initiatives; analyze departmental operating procedures and play a key role in the HR team to contribute to the day to day delivery and operational support of the department. 25% 3. Responsible for undertaking special projects related to issues in human resources, conduct surveys, analyze people related metrics, develop newsletter, and provide assistance to managers, supervisors, staff, and faculty of the District in understanding Human Resources policies, procedures, and operational guidelines. 20% 4. Develop, implement and coordinate training for HR department related to recruitment, selection, hiring, employee benefits, workers compensation, risk management, safety, compensation, pay systems, records, human resource information systems, and performance management to enhance the delivery of HR services. 15% 5. Provide personnel management direction and guidance to staff including orientation, performance appraisal, professional development, coaching and counseling. Participate in setting performance goals and priorities that contribute to departmental mission. 10% 6. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: None specified. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of principles, best practices, and trends in Human Resources; Experience and ability to interpret and apply federal, state and local laws and regulations as related to employment law; Effective problem solving skills in a variety of circumstances; Effective organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail and follow through; Excellent communication and presentation skills; Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the institution; and Knowledge of automated human resource information systems and operation of personal computer. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with a general office environment (copier, phone, fax, etc.) 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database software; HRIS, integrated administrative information system and network E-mail.
