JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for all aspects of planning, design, implementation, analysis, equipment and performance specifications regarding the College’s wide-area integrated-services positions.

Provide supervision and guidance to network and netware support positions which maintain and monitor the district wide network and network infrastructure on a daily basis. Troubleshoot network to ensure stability and availability; monitor network usage to anticipate growth.
2.
Anticipate changes in network usage patterns and handle future increases in general usage and number of users; monitor network operating parameters (such as service availability, response time, traffic routing, and overall network efficiency) and make appropriate changes.
3.
Review performance analysis reports to ensure compliance with specifications; develop performance and configuration specifications for all network equipment and develop RFPs relating to network infrastructure or network services.
4.
Responsible for the integration of existing departmental or multi-departmental local area networks (LAN); ensure that existing LANs meet current standards and are smoothly integrated into the network’s directory services and management and monitoring systems.
5.
Manage the process of changes to the network infrastructure including proposal, review, implementation, testing, and validation to ensure network changes produce the desired result; ensure that all network documentation is accurately maintained.
6.
Responsible for the installation, upgrade and initial configuration of high-capacity routers and Ethernet switches.
7.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years related experience.

Equipment Used : Personal Computer and a variety of equipment associated with a general office environment in addition to Cisco 15454 ONS equipment, fiber optic network, and a variety of
Cisco network router and switching equipment.

Software Used : A variety of word processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software in addition to Novell software, Unix/Linux Software and Network Management software tools.
