POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Financial Aid Processing Manager Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Professional C JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for coordinating and overseeing the processing of all financial aid applications and/or documents. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Manage, maintain, and interpret regulatory requirements, operational procedures/policies to ensure the efficient processing of financial aid applications. YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 40% 2. Manage, schedule, and oversee work assignments of support personnel responsible for application processing. Provide training on an on-going basis. Provide personnel management and direction for staff assigned to section, including orientation and performance appraisal. 30% 3. Transmit, receive and manage Federal Student Aid information electronically to the Federal Electronic Data Exchange (EDE) system which imports and exports all student data between the U.S. Department of Education Central Processing System and the EPCC Banner system. 15% 4. Assist with the testing of Banner financial aid system upgrades and end of year reporting for Federal programs. 10% 5. Participate in special outreach projects and programs. May be asked to perform liaison activities with other departments. 5% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Associate Director, Student Financial Aid SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide direct supervision of staff assigned to functional area. Skills/Abilities: Proficient computer skills, effective verbal and written communication and good interpersonal skills; good organizational and leadership skills. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer, fax, telephone, copier, and other equipment associated with an office environment. 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with occasional distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
