JOB SUMMARY: Provide services and training necessary to meet the needs of the Texas

Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) to support the College for Texans initiative to motivate students to plan for and work towards pursing higher education.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

30% 1. Conduct outreach activities to promote higher education and encourage use of GO Center resources.

2. Provide GO Center services and other resources, including marketing materials to prospective students and parents on all aspects of succeeding in pursing higher education.

20% 3. Participate in organized events such as school assemblies, classroom presentations, college fairs, and field trips.

4. Train high school members to promote college-going message among student and parents.

5. Assist in recruiting high school students to participate in the GO

Centers located at their high school.

EDUCATION: Must be currently enrolled in at least three semester hours of academic level credit.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties due to long periods of standing, sitting, and/or repetitive motion.

Alternative or combined skills in understanding, advising, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; Skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with many and frequent distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.

Will be required to travel within city limits and occasionally out of city limits.
