POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Manager, Financial Aid Intake Services Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Professional C JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall administration and coordination of financial aid intake services and outreach activities district-wide. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 40% 1. Manage and coordinate the financial aid intake services and outreach activities district-wide. Provide intake service assistance to the Director, Assistant Director, and other administrators. 2. Manage staff work assignments. Support staff participation in training sessions, workshops, and meetings designed to improve overall efficiency and improve staffs’ ability to provide excellent service to students. Ensure campus financial aid offices are appropriately staffed and supplied for efficient and effective operations. 20% 3. Interact with administrators within the district, officials administering student financial aid, professional organizations, community organizations, students and others for the development of quality programs. 10% 4. Monitor program changes; develop and maintain records/statistics; participate in the development of resource utilization analysis; recommend improvements and modifications. 10% 5. Provide personnel management direction and guidance to staff, including orientation, performance appraisal, coaching, and personal/professional development. 10% 6. Coordinate Financial Aid outreach activities to include Financial Aid presentations, as necessary. 10% REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Assistant Director, Student Financial Services SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct Supervision of staff assigned. Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of and ability to research complex federal and state regulatory guidance as well as college policies and procedures. Leadership and team building skills. Ability to establish and maintain rapport with students, parents, faculty, administrative staff and top level executives. Computer skills and working knowledge of EDE. 2. Equipment Used: Personal computer and other equipment associated with an office environment. 3. Software Used: A variety of spreadsheet, word-processing, database, email, and presentation software. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties require little physical effort in work with light (up to 10lbs), easy to handle materials. Duties performed causes light fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties. Duties require frequent travel between District campuses and locations. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Alternative or combined skills in understanding, counseling, and/or influencing people are important in achieving job objectives, causing action, understanding others, or changing behavior; and, skills of persuasiveness or assertiveness, as well as sensitivity to the point of view of others. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job is performed in general office or comparable working area with occasional distractions such as noise, interruptions, or congested work areas with exposure to some disagreeable elements.
