Minutes for Meeting of November 10, 2014
A meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, November 10 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129. Committee members
present were: Gretchen Adams, Scott Baugh, Kelly Cukrowicz, Gary Elbow, Brett Houk,
Matt Olson, Jacob Mota, David Roach, and Paige Hyde. Presenters: Dr. Erin Collopy (Classical & Modern
Languages & Literatures), Dr. Kvande (English), Dr. Lumpkin (Health, Exercise, & Sport Sciences), Dr. Walker
(History), Drs. Cohen, Durham, Hohman, and Talley (Psychological Sciences), and Dr. Jordan (Sociology,
Anthropology, & Social Work).
1.
The committee voted to approve the following proposal from the Department of Classical & Modern
Languages & Literatures:
 Include SLAV 2301 The Vampire in East European and Western Culture in the list of courses fulfilling
the TTU Multicultural requirement.
2.
The committee voted to approve the following proposal from the Department of English:
 Change title of ENGL 2391 Introduction to Critical Writing.
3.
The committee voted to approve the following proposals from the Department of Health, Exercise, and
Sport Sciences:
 Delete HLTH 1302 Hist, Phil, & Found of Health
 Delete HLTH 1305 Human Sexuality
 Delete HLTH 2305 Mental Health
 Delete HLTH 3302 Current Trends in Health
 Delete HLTH 3325 Health Concerns in Chem Depend
4.
Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to approve the following proposals from the Department of
Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences:
 Add ESS 4076 Sport Management Internship
 Add ESS 4373 Sales & Fundraising in Sport
 Add ESS 4374 International Sport Management
 Add ESS 4377 Sport for Development
 Change description and title for ESS 4392 Research Methods in Exercise and Sport Sciences
5.
The committee voted to recommend for approval the following proposal from the Department of Health,
Exercise, and Sport Sciences. The proposal is now under review by the Dean of the College of Arts and
Sciences.
 Add new Bachelor of Science program in Sport Management.
6.
Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposals from the Department of History:
 Add HIST 4315 Slavery in the Atlantic World
 Add HIST 5321 Family, Gender, Race, & Empire
7.
Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposals from the Department of Psychological Sciences:
 Change title and proposed course hours for PSY 4302 Service Learning is Psychology
 Add PSY 5335 Group Processes and Intergroup Relations
 Add PSY 5465 Categorical Data Analysis
 Add PSY 5485 Psychometric Theories
 Add PSY 5490 Computer Modeling: Applied
 Add PSY 5495 Hierarchical Linear Modeling
 Add PSY 5496 Qualitative Research Methods

The committee requests further information for the following proposal from the Department of
Psychological Sciences:
 Add Graduate Certificate in Psychological Methods & Analysis
9.
Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposals from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work:
 Change description and pre-req requirements for ANTH 2301 Intro to Archaeology
 Change description for ANTH 2302 World Cultures
 Change description for ANTH 3303 Forensic Anthropology
 Change description for ANTH 3304 Global Forces
 Add ANTH 3315 Anthropological Theory
 Add ANTH 3340 Study of Culture and Language
 Add ANTH 5310 Seminar in CRM
 Add ANTH 5642 Advanced Field Anthropology
The next scheduled meeting of ASCAP is set for 3:00 Monday, November 24, 2014. Proposals for this meeting
need to reach the Dean’s office by Monday, November 17.
