College of Arts and Sciences Committee on Academic Programs (ASCAP)
Minutes for Meeting of May 4, 2015
A meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, May 4th at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129. Committee members
present were: Gretchen Adams, Jim Barrick, Kelly Cukrowicz, Luis Ramirez, Matt Olson, Jacob Mota, Marliss
Desens, and David Roach. Presenters: Dr. Collopy and Dr. Surliuga (CMLL), Dr. Cunningham (History), Dr.
Powell and Dr. Forbis (Political Science), Dr. Lumpkin (Health, Exercise, & Sport Sciences), Dr. Phil Marshall
(Psychological Sciences), and Jeremy Mason (Department of Chemistry).
1.
Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposals from the
Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures:
 Include CMLL 2306, Introduction to World Cinema in TTU Multicultural list.
 Include CMLL 2306 in TTU Core list of Language, Culture, and Philosophy courses.
 Add ITAL 3301, Peoples and Cultures of Italy.

The committee voted to reject ITAL 3301, Peoples and Cultures of Italy for inclusion in the TTU
Multicultural list.

The committee voted to recommend for approval the following proposal for the Department of History:
 Change title and description for HIST 5326, Nature in History in America.
4.
Pending minor revisions, the committee recommended approval for the following proposals from the
Department of Political Sciences:
 Add POLS 3328, Energy Politics and Law.
 Add POLS 3329, Environmental Politics and Policy.
 Add POLS 3332, Energy, Environment, and Society.
 Add PUAD 5327, Energy Policy & Administration.

Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposals from the
Department of Health, Exercise, & Sport Sciences:
 Change title for ESS 4325, Advanced Techniques in Athletic Training.
 Change prefix, description and title for ESS 4398, Seminar.
 Change prefix and course hours for ESS 5003, Internship in Sport Management.
 Change prefix and title for ESS 5315, Research Methods I.
 Change prefix and title for KIN 5316, Research Methods II.
 Change prefix, description, and title for ESS 5317, Seminar.
 Add SPMT 4000, Independent Study.
 Add SPMT 5031, Independent Study.
 Add SPMT 6000, Thesis.
 Add SPMT 7000, Research.
 Kinesiology courses needing new KIN prefix (informational item).
 Sport Management courses needing new SPMT prefix (informational item).

The committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposal from the Department of
Psychological Sciences:
 Change hours, description, and title for PSY 3317, Learning and Memory.
7.
The committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposal from the Department of Chemistry
and Biochemistry:
 Change hours for CHEM 1301, Preparatory Chemistry.
This was the last scheduled meeting of ASCAP for the 2014/2015 academic year. ASCAP meetings will
resume in the Fall 2015 semester.
