ANNE HATHAWAY had a big scare while on vacation in Hawaii this week.
Anne and husband Adam Shulman were sunning themselves on the beach when she decided to go for a dip and got caught in a riptide. Anne screamed for help and a nearby surfer rushed to save her. However, the drama wasn’t over as Anne scraped her foot on a reef as she made her way to shore. Shulman took over rescue duties as he sucked possible toxins out of her toe and bandaged her up. Anne was quickly back to normal and was seen strolling on the beach later that day.
It looks like AMANDA BYNES has beaten the rap on that bong-tossing case in
New York. To recap, police went to Amanda’s apartment at the height of her meltdown and smelled weed. However, before they could do anything she threw a bong out the window. Amanda claimed she threw a flower vase but, in any case, the matter will be taken care of in court today and the charges will be dismissed if she behaves for the next six months. It seems as if Amanda is doing just that as she’s enrolled for the winter quarter at the Fashion Institute of Design &
Merchandising in Southern California.
You can own the home once lived in by KHLOÉ KARDASHIAN and LAMAR
ODOM, if you have the bucks. The couple’s seven-bedroom, eight-bath Tarzana mansion is on the market for $5.5 million. If they get their price it’ll be a tidy profit as they bought the home in December 2009 for $3.9 million, just two months after they married. The 8,400 square-foot home, which was seen on their reality show
Khloé & Lamar, features a gourmet kitchen, a pool and a master suite with three walk-in closets.

NICOLE SCHERZINGER and Formula One champion LEWIS HAMILTON might be back on. They split due to either busy schedules, or other issues, depending on who you believe, but they were spotted on a dinner date together this week in Beverly Hills. Nicole and Lewis dropped hints that they had reunited over the New Year's holiday by posting almost identical photos on Twitter and
Instagram of their winter getaway. It was reported that Hamilton proposed to
Scherzinger back in August, just a month after they broke up, in an attempt to win her back, but she turned him down.

BEYONCE and JAY Z’s daughter Blue Ivy, whose parents rented out the Jungle
Island Wildlife Park and botanical garden in Miami so they could have some private time with lemurs, orangutans, kangaroos, penguins and such. No word on what it cost, but a VIP safari tour for just one person costs $240.
BEYONCE is being urged to donate a portion of the proceeds from her track “XO” to the Challenger Learning Center because the song samples audio commentary from the space shuttle Challenger disaster. Beyonce issued a statement saying,
“XO was recorded with the sincerest intention to help heal those who have lost loved ones and to remind us that unexpected things happen, so love and appreciate every minute that you have with those who mean the most to you. The songwriters included the audio in tribute to the unselfish work of the Challenger crew with hope that they will never be forgotten.” However, an online petition is calling on her to donate a quarter of the profits to the learning center.

DENNIS RODMAN has apologized for comments he made on CNN about
American missionary Kenneth Bae, who’s being held prisoner in North Korea.
Rodman issued the apology through a rep in an e-mail to The Associated Press which read in part: "I take full responsibility for my actions. It had been a very stressful day. Some of my teammates were leaving because of pressure from their families and business associates. My dream of basketball diplomacy was quickly falling apart. I had been drinking. It's not an excuse but by the time the interview happened I was upset. I was overwhelmed. It's not an excuse, it's just the truth."
Rodman then supposedly headed off to a new ski resort that Kim had built in his impoverished nation.
DANCE MOMS star KELLY HYLAND was arrested in New York for allegedly attacking co-star ABBY LEE MILLER. It all went down in November and while
Kelly was booked, no charges have been filed. Yes, the cameras were rolling at the time, so it’s possible it was all staged. In any case, Abby was looking for new talent and Kelly got ticked that her kids were being overlooked and one thing led to another, which will no doubt be shown on the reality show.

Molly Schuyler’s eyes are definitely not bigger than her stomach. Molly is a competitive eater and mother of four from Minnesota who just obliterated the world record for Fastest Eating of a 72-Ounce Steak. One unnamed man in Britain rang in the New Year by having some cake. This cake was even more disgusting than fruitcake as it was a urinal cake. (See here – careful of language)

Another cool gadget being shown off at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las
Vegas is a bed from Sleep Number called the x12. It’s a dual-mattress bed that can track a person’s breathing, heart rate, and even whether you’re lying still or moving and then use that data to give you advice on how to get a better night's sleep. The bed will also reportedly listen to commands, using the sound of your voice, to turn on under-bed lighting, built-in massage, and a feature to stop your snoring by raising the angle you’re sleeping at. The bed will sell for $8,000.
At least one person thinks the world needs a smart toothbrush. The Kolibree toothbrush was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. It senses how long and how well you brush, and lets you track your brushing performance on your cell phone. The toothbrush not only can teach you to brush the right way and make sure you’re brushing long enough, it can interact with other apps so that someone could create a game controlled by your toothbrush in which you could score points for activities such as chasing monsters among your teeth.
The inventor says he came up with the idea when his kids lied to him about brushing their teeth and he wanted to have a way to check up on them. The
Kolibree will go on sale this summer, for $99 to $199, depending on features.
A new survey finds that the number of young people in Britain consuming alcohol has declined sharply. Just 12% of 11 to 15-year olds said they had drunk alcohol in the previous week, which was down from 26% a decade earlier. So, why the drop?
Many say it’s because they’ve seen how stupid their parents look when they get blitzed and it’s put them off drinking, while a crackdown on underage drinking is also having an effect.

A protest has been filed over the San Diego Chargers’ win against the Cincinnati
Bengals last Sunday. Daniel Spuck filed a motion against the NFL in U.S. District
Court seeking an emergency injunction to suspend the playoffs. Yes, Spuck does have plenty of time on his hands seeing as he’s an inmate in Pennsylvania. Spuck contends that an illegal formation penalty should’ve been called on the Chargers on Ryan Succop’s field goal attempt at the end of regulation. Had the kick been good, San Diego would’ve lost the game, sending his Pittsburgh Steelers to the playoffs. Spuck wants the Chiefs declared winners, making the Steelers the sixth seed. Since Spuck did not submit a filing fee with his motion, he’s, well, Spucked.
Jennifer McCarthy, the ex-wife of Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac
McCarthy, has perhaps given her ex something new to write about. After getting into an argument with her new lover about aliens of the outer space variety,
McCarthy left her Santa Fe, New Mexico, residence, then came back and changed into lingerie. There was a thrilling night ahead for the 53-year-old man, but not likely the type of thrills he’d imagined. As they began to get intimate, McCarthy produced a silver handgun from a highly personal area south of the equator. While that leaves many unanswered questions about McCarthy’s lady parts, she pointed it at her lover and asked, "Who is crazy, you or me?" While that question certainly is not unanswered, the boyfriend managed to get the gun away from McCarthy before first putting it first in the toilet, then the trash can, and calling police.
Bolingbrook, Illinois Police Lt. Mike Rompa says his department is investigating an unnamed officer who was spotted and filmed playing poker. No, the officer in question wasn’t involved in some illegal, high stakes game. It seems the cop was filmed playing video poker while on duty and driving his squad car in a snowstorm. The woman who took the video has posted it to YouTube and says the officer was driving and trying to play video poker at the same time while road conditions were already treacherous. Police won’t say yet if the officer will be fired, but at least he wasn’t texting. (See here )

An unnamed 21-year-old Hartland, Michigan woman called 911 to report that she’d gotten stuck in a completely dark tree house and that nobody knew where she was, including herself. After several hours, the Livingston County Sheriff’s
Department finally found the woman thanks to the GPS tracking on her cell phone.
She told police that after getting into a fight with her friend, she decided to search a tree house looking for a cat that had climbed up a tree in one of her mother’s dreams and then she couldn't get down. Her mother later cleared things up by saying her daughter was having some “mental issues” and was on medication that she had been told not to drink alcohol with.
Owling is still popular with Massachusetts’ Troy A. Prockett. After a state trooper saw Prockett’s car spin out and hit a snow bank, he quickly arrived on the scene only to have Prockett speed away. After a brief chase, Prockett stopped his car, got out, jumped over a guard rail and ran down an embankment into the woods. After searching for an hour, police finally found Prockett hiding 30 feet up in a tree. In very slurred speech, Prockett refused to come down and began rambling on about being an owl as he climbed higher, shaking the branches and saying, ‘Look it’s snowing.’ Eventually Prockett ran out of tree and the fire department came in with a bucket truck to get him down. When asked why he refused to climb down,
Prockett told police he was “scared” because he already had two DUI charges.
Needless to say, that count has now risen to three.
Omaha’s 20-year-old Andrel Harris put a bite into crime. It started when a man had his iPad stolen Monday night. The victim found the iPad for sale on Craigslist, and arranged to meet the seller. The victim also called police to join the meeting and when Harris showed up and spotted the officers he ran. Police own the foot race and as they were struggling with Harris, he bit one the cops on the hand. Harris was arrested on charges of suspicion of robbery and assault on an officer.
