DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT SERVICES For Reference Only CLASS CODE: 5603 PAY GRADE: 416 CLASS TITLE: MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST II - SES ALLOCATION FACTOR(S) This is work administering all activities of a medical laboratory, including conducting laboratory tests to provide information for use in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of diseases. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: (Note: The examples of work as listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. Examples of work performed are not to be used for allocation purposes.) Collects body fluids for laboratory tests to provide information for diagnostic, treatment, and/or research decisions. Performs serology, immunology, immunohematology, hematology, bacteriology, urinalyses, biochemical, drug susceptibility, and/or other tests. Performs phlebotomies. Prepares and inoculates culture mediums and identifies organisms. Prepares reports of test results. Prepares reagents and chemicals. Performs preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment as required. Performs quality control testing for all procedures as required. Maintains laboratory equipment and inventory of chemicals for conducting tests. Reviews test results. Schedules maintenance of laboratory equipment. Reviews and updates laboratory testing procedures. Performs related work as required.
