Mr. Anthony Scales Computer Applications/Keyboarding Teacher Email: ascales@umasd.org Phone: (610) 205-8947 Policies and Procedures Computer Lab Expectations for Digital Citizenship: Follow directions for using computers, printers, and network Follow Upper Merion Middle School Acceptable Use and Internet policies Never interfere with the equipment or files of another student Student Expectations: Arrive with a positive attitude and be prepared to start work right away Work independently and quietly unless otherwise instructed Student’s name must be included on all work turned in (in the file name, in the header, etc.) Save all work frequently throughout an assignment Arrive on time (Late arrivals will require a pass) Stay seated at all times (unless you have permission) Listen attentively to the instruction Raise a hand when help is needed Promote and demonstrate the Community of Caring Values Ask to use the bathroom if necessary (being in the bathroom is not an excuse for being late to class) No food, drink, or gum permitted in class* Grading Policy: Based on: o The quality of work o The timely completion of all work o Classroom participation: Three (3) classroom participation points are earned each day. o To earn classwork points, students must be actively working throughout class, including extension activities if they finish their work. Points can be subtracted for not following expectations listed above. Grades will be issued as follows: 90% - 100% = O (Outstanding) ** 65% - 89% = S (Satisfactory) Less than 65% = U (Unsatisfactory) * Under certain circumstances food and/or drink may be permitted in the classroom. ** Please Note: All required assignments must be complete to earn an outstanding grade. In the computer lab it is expected that: We will show RESPECT by: Listening attentively to both the teacher and other students Taking care of school property, computers, and class materials Raising your hand during class and not calling out Be patient with technology and other students within the classroom Being mindful of other people’s belongings We will show RESPONSIBILITY by: Being on time for class Staying organized and getting started right away—using our time wisely Following directions Participate in all activities and assignments Completing and turning in all assignments Seek assistance before or after school (with prior arrangements) for further clarification or extra help See Mr. Scales if you are absent to make up work. o Students will have six (6) days to make up any work missed. (Work may be made up during their lunch period, before school, and after school). Most importantly, do your very best everyday and you will be successful!
