Chair Report—Sen. Savage: I think we can all agree that the common goal between us is
to run a contested election in the fall, but I cannot do this on my own. I cannot recruit a
large number of students and run an election on my own, I really do need the help of
other senators and I’m going to be using my committee, I will be using you all to help me
advertise SG in an interactive and creative way that still manages to inexpensively and
effectively transmit information, and to make SG as approachable and accessible for
students as possible.
a. Motion to suspend Roberts Rules. Second. No objects. Moved.
Q: What if we made it mandatory for committee members to get a certain number of
students to run for Senate?
Sen. Savage: Em got—I think—45 declarations of intent, and I think that 50 should be a
minimum goal for fall. But the question here is, how are we going to make this process as
easy and streamlined as possible so that those 50 students will not drop out of the
running? And yeah, I do think that’s a really good idea, and I would consider expanding
that to include all senators, maybe? I don’t know, it’s something to think about. But yeah
we all have to participate in this process, it is our job as senators to promote the
organization that we spend our time dedicating our effort and ideas to. And you know,
how are we going to achieve these goals? I mean, I have ideas written down here.
Chapter visits I can do, even though I do want to expand the diversity of SG, a lot of
people just don’t know much about it, so I want to speak to as many groups as I can to
transmit as much information as interestingly as possible. I want to present at orientation
and have applications on hand, we have to feed it to them, we have to give them
something to take with them. Create graphics to hang/display on campus at eye level. I’ll
look at something on a light post or a banner hanging off of a building. I want to put
flyers on the tables at the Café, the library, ACE, bathroom stall doors, Starbucks,
basically anywhere where someone can pick it up and set it down for someone else to
pick up and set down, and we need to put them in places where people are waiting or
sitting around so they have something to do.
Q: Are you in favor of online voting?

Sen. Savage: Not right now no, I am not. I think we need to focus on first recruiting
individuals to participate and then work out the kinks from there. I don’t have a plan to
bring voting online at all during fall, and probably not for spring either. I think we need
to actually run an election—most of us haven’t even seen one—and make changes to
Title VI as seen fit.
Old Business—None.
New Business—None.
