Minutes of the College Council Meeting of July 19, 2004
Present: Dr. Fallo, Dr. Caldwell, Ms. Ely, Mr. Gomez, Mr. Hanson, Ms. Pickens, Dr. Simon, Ms.
Smith, and Ms. Stewart.
1. Board Agenda
a. Human Resources page 14, item 3 will be discussed behind closed doors. The Board
will recess to closed session for discussion then come back to open session.
b. ECCE and Academic Senate Representatives expressed concern and disagreement with
President Fallo’s new contract. The issues cited were: base salary increase; salary
supplement for a tax sheltered annuity in place of the separate life insurance policy; and
new expense allowance.
2. There will be two deans in the final interviews for the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
3. Policies recommended for deletion were distributed for review and discussion on August 2,
2004.
4. College Council will meet at 1:00 p.m. in the fall. August meeting dates are: August 2, August
16 and August 30. The Facilities Steering Committee will meet from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on August
2nd in Library 202.
5. As we get more information on the State budget we will add more positions and expenditures
into our budget. The major provisions at this time include $26 fee, no differential fee, PFE
folded into base, equalization funded at $80M, and growth funded at 3.65%.
6. Dr. Caldwell will rewrite the Independent Studies Policy removing procedures. The Academic
Senate representative would like a statement indicating that there would be mutual agreement
about procedures to assure faculty input into procedure.
7. The Academic Deans will determine what additional computers will be needed for fall or
spring for classroom instruction. Some computers will be available for check out through the
Deans.
