Minutes of the College Council Meeting of April 21, 2003
Present: Dr. Caldwell, Ms. Caldwell, Ms. Ely, Dr. Fallo, Mr. Hanson, Dr. Hata, Ms.
Pickens, Dr. Simon, Ms. Smith, and Ms. Stewart
Sacramento Visit
The date for the Sacramento visit has been changed from May 21, 2003 to May 13, 2003.
Issues for discussion are equitable budget cuts and student fees.
Accreditation Visit
The Accrediting team was very complimentary about the communication given to them.
They will submit a report to us for technical corrections. This report will be submitted at
their June meeting.
Health Center Fees
There was a recommendation from the Planning & Budgeting Committee (PBC) to
review the health center fees. This recommendation is under consideration.
Senate Consultation Issues
President Fallo proposed to Ms. Stewart that the Academic Senate could ratify actions of
the Planning & Budgeting Committee (PBC). Ms. Stewart believes this is a step in the
right direction and will take the proposal to the Academic Senate.
Joint Training: College Council/CQIN Learning Team
Donna Manno invited College Council members to join the April 28, 2003 CQIN
meeting to learn more about a training in “Dialogue.” This training takes conversation
out of a competitive level and leaves assumptions behind. College Council members may
participate in this training in the future.
