Minutes: With the following changes, the minutes of October 7 were approved.
 Under Mike D’Amico: Change $30,000 to $45,000.
 Under Academic Technology Committee, move the sentence that starts, “Alex will…” to
the section on the College Technology Committee.
Measure “E” Expenditures: The current document prepared by Purchasing shows the purchase
order amount minus the actual shipping (an estimated shipping amount is sometimes included).
These numbers will probably be lower than the final expenditure amount, and the numbers will
need to be reconciled later.
Academic Technology Committee: It was reported that the deans and the Academic Senate were
upset about the proposed makeup of the new Academic Technology Committee. They wanted
representatives from each division. Vic clarified that the committee doesn’t have the bond
money. Alex confirmed that the MIS Advisory Committee is to be abolished. When he returns,
the president will send thank you letters to those who served on the MIS Committee and
notification of appointment letters to the new appointees.
Committee Reports/Division Issues
 Rocky Bonura: He begins jury duty next Monday.
 Marcy Wade: She is working with Pat Caldwell, Arvid Spor, and Allene on the
feasibility of taking the casual function under HR.
 Vic Hanson
 Arvid Spor is moving to Pat Caldwell’s office in October on a special assignment re:
planning. He will continue Pat’s work with the divisions.
 The possibility of closing the campus at some future date is still on the negotiating
table.
 Steve Fasteau is retiring at the end of February.
 Donna Manno
 She requested that everyone check his/her Q-builder access and let her know today if
you can’t get in. She has a password list if that is the problem. The new goals are
still not in.
 There is a PERS workshop tomorrow afternoon and a STRS workshop on October 30.
 She and Ann Garten will meet tomorrow to put the task force together. Alex
expressed concern about how currency of Web information can be insured when
individual offices are updating their own Web sites.





 Suggestions for College Council - (1) have an agenda (it was noted that there is one
at the end of each set of minutes), and (2) change the location. Admin. 127 is not
welcoming and is not conducive to an open meeting.
Pam Fees
 She and Arvid Spor are training people on the proper hiring of student and casual
workers.
 Two people are out on jury duty.
 Six auditors were here yesterday.
 Del Bergin from ITS is working on discrepancies with fee payments in the system
which necessitated the closing of the cashier windows last week.
Bob Gann
 They are contemplating changing the exterior color of the science complex and
will do some test patches first.
 A sign company has been commissioned to develop directional signs for the
campus. College Council may review.
 The selection of the architect for the HUMA building has been postponed.
Allene Quarles: The Classified Service Awards announcement went out. Hawaiian attire
is requested.
Mike D’Amico: At the president’s request, the Campus Social Environment Committee
has been resurrected, and they have already met once.
Rocky Bonura: The possibility of uniforms for certain service groups on campus is being
discussed in negotiations.
Meeting adjourned at 9:05 a.m.
