Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Explain stress, its common sources and its effects on dairy industry employees. Evidence requirements 1.1 The characteristics of stress are identified in terms of physical reactions and effects of thoughts and feelings. 1.2 Sources of stress are identified. Range 1.3 sources include but are not limited to – deadlines, overtime, shiftwork, flexible rostering, interpersonal relationships. Symptoms of potential stress overload are identified. Range evidence is required for five physical, four emotional and four behavioural symptoms. Range effects include but are not limited to those related to – physical and mental health, family and social relationships, work performance. Outcome 2 Identify strategies for managing employee stress in the dairy industry. Evidence requirements 2.1 Strategies for managing personal health and stress are explained. Range 2.2 explanation includes but is not limited to – elements of strategy, benefits of strategy; strategies include but are not limited to those related to – diet and fatigue management, relaxation techniques, time management, problem solving, physical exercise. Strategies for managing interpersonal stress are explained. Range explanation includes but is not limited to – elements of strategy, benefits of strategy; strategies include but are not limited to those related to – negotiation skills, communication skills, conflict management. Outcome 3 Develop a personal stress management plan. Evidence requirements 3.1 Stressors that negatively effect the individual are identified. 3.2 Plan contains strategies to reduce the negative effects of personal and workplace stressors. 3.3 Plan includes actions to be taken and timeframes. This unit standard is expiring. Assessment against the standard must take place by the last date for assessment set out below.
