1
Work must be carried out in accordance with organisational requirements, licensing
requirements, legislative requirements, and industrial awards and agreements.

Work may be undertaken in various work areas including production, and inward and
outward stores.

Goods may include hazardous goods and those requiring controlled temperature
storage.

Legislative requirements include but are not limited to the Hazardous Substances and New
Organisms Act 1996, Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, Animal Products
Act 1999, Animal Products (Dairy) Regulations 2005, relevant Dairy
Specifications/Notices.
Organisational requirements refers to instructions to staff on policy and procedures which
are documented in memo or manual format and are available in the workplace.
These requirements include but are not limited to – site specific requirements, and
company quality management requirements.

Evidence requirements
1.1
Inventory and labelling systems are used to locate goods and materials within
storage areas.
1.2
Goods and materials are physically located and identified.
1.3
Non-conforming materials, goods or conditions are identified, rectified and/or
reported in accordance with organisational requirements.
Outcome 2
Demonstrate knowledge of basic stores operations.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Basic stores operations are identified in terms of types of stores and storage
systems, and location advice including maps, plans, computers and other
location guides or devices.
2.2
Basic stores operations are identified in terms of storage system requirements.

storage system requirements may include but are not limited to –
product code and labelling system storage requirements according
to product type and characteristics, storage requirements of
commonly used products and materials, signage and symbols
used to identify storage and handling requirements and contents
of stores, housekeeping in storage areas and own work area,
stock rotation, record keeping.

NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
