NZQA Expiring unit standard 15917 version 5 Page 1 of 3 Title Demonstrate knowledge of commercial payment systems in the hospitality industry Level 1 Credits Purpose 2 This unit standard is for people who are studying the hospitality industry in a school or early tertiary learning environment. People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of manual commercial payment systems, and demonstrate knowledge of automated commercial payment systems. It is expected that the detail of these requirements will differ slightly from one establishment to another, and should be explained in such a manner. 2 Legislation to be complied with includes the Privacy Act 1993. 3 The outcomes required in this unit standard are seen as a basic introduction to the hospitality industry. References to industry or commercial environments are designed to assist teachers to contextualise the learning environment to one that is more realistic of the hospitality industry. Outcome 2 Demonstrate knowledge of automated commercial payment systems. Evidence requirements 2.1 The components of electronic payment systems are described. Range components include but are not limited to – equipment, equipment use, cards, security requirements, cash register. 2.2 The term ‘EFTPOS’ is explained in accordance with commercial payment systems. 2.3 The processing requirements for electronic credit card transactions are described in terms of industry requirements. 2.4 The problems associated with electronic payment systems are identified and described in terms of industry requirements. 2.5 This unit standard is The processing requirements for cash flow card transactions are described in expiring terms of industry requirements.
