People credited with this unit standard are able to: demonstrate knowledge of inventory control procedures; demonstrate knowledge of stock ordering; receive parts and place them into storage; price the inwards goods; and demonstrate knowledge of stocktaking duties. Evidence requirements 2.1 Information required to ensure accurate ordering of stock is identified. Range 2.2 Parts sourced from a supplier are identified as best suiting the needs of the company and the customer. Range 2.3 sales history, seasonal selling trends, stock level, stock type, quantity required, source of supply. lead time, price, quality, minimum order quantity, freight costs. Reason for a purchase authority is described. Range verification of costs, audit trail. Outcome 3 Receive parts and place them into storage. Evidence requirements 3.1 The parts delivered correspond to those detailed on the packing slip and the purchase order, and disparities are reported to the supervisor. 3.2 The condition of the goods supplied is checked before signing any carrier's documentation, and any damage reported to the carrier and the supervisor. 3.3 The parts are placed into the designated storage location. 3.4 The stock records are adjusted to reflect the new stock level. Range 3.5 computer records, manual records. Unwanted packaging is disposed of in accordance with company policy and the Resource Management Act. Outcome 4 Price the inwards goods. Evidence requirements 4.1 The current price list is obtained from the employer or supplier. Outcome 5 Demonstrate knowledge of stocktaking duties. Evidence requirements 5.1 The purpose of stocktaking is defined. Range 5.2 financial, supply and demand, stockturn efficiency, security, legal. Methods of stocktaking are described. Range continuous cycle, annual, random. 5.3 Procedures to check records and stock for agreement are described. 5.4 Documentation procedures in case of a stock variance are identified according to company policy.
