Purpose
This theory unit standard introduces people who have recently
started work in the motor body industry to the legislative
requirements of their workplace. People credited with this unit
standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of current
legislation, regulations, codes of practice and regulatory bodies
relevant to their workplace.

The following legislation, subsequent amendments, codes of practice and regulations are
applicable: Employment Relations Act 2000; Hazardous Substances and New Organisms
Act 1996; Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992; Spray Coating Regulations 1962;
Lead Process Regulations 1950; Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Isocyanates (1994)
Wellington: Occupational Safety and Health Service, Department of Labour; Consumer
Guarantees Act 1993; Privacy Act 1993; Resource Management Act 1991; Transport
(Vehicle Standards) Regulations 1990; Traffic Regulations 1976; Land Transport Rules,
available from the Land Transport Safety Authority; Local body regulations relevant to the
motor industry.

regulatory bodies relevant to the workplace.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Acts, regulations, and their key points applying to the workplace are identified.
1.2
Acts, regulations and codes of practice relevant to the protection of the
environment are identified.
1.3
Acts, regulations and codes of practice for the use and disposal of hazardous
materials are identified.

workplace are identified.
