Demonstrate knowledge of workplace conduct in a manufacturing

Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are, as an employee in
the manufacturing environment, able to, over a period of 20
consecutive days: exercise care as an employee, demonstrate
timeliness, and present a positive image.

1
Range
The outcomes of the standard must be met over 20 consecutive working days.

20 consecutive working days should allow for, but not include, valid absences.

Definitions
Workplace procedures – procedures used by the organisation carrying out the work
and applicable to the tasks being carried out. Examples are – standard operating
procedures, site safety procedures, equipment operating procedures, codes of
practice, quality management practices and standards, procedures to comply with
legislative and local body requirements.

Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes but is not limited to the Health and
Safety at Work Act 2015.

Knowledge of the types of conduct that can lead to disciplinary action, including
dismissal, is demonstrated.

Language is used appropriately in relating to supervisors, co-workers, and any
visitors according to workplace procedures.
1.4
Equipment and materials in the candidate’s assigned work area and any other
area the candidate may be asked to work in are treated with due care according
to workplace procedures.

Demonstrate timeliness as an employee in a manufacturing environment.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Work is commenced and recommenced at no later than agreed times according
to workplace procedures.
Range
beginning of daily work period, following breaks.
2.2
Meetings and appointments are attended on time.
2.3
Absences are notified as early as possible according to workplace procedures.
Outcome 3
Present a positive image as an employee in a manufacturing environment.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Elements that project a positive image are identified according to workplace
procedures.

Communication skills are demonstrated according to workplace procedures.

expression, facial expression.
A positive attitude is demonstrated in accordance with workplace procedures.

two aspects of positive attitude from – enthusiasm, helpfulness,
interest, responsiveness.

Providers must be granted consent to assess against standards (accredited) by NZQA,
before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses

Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by
NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
