Meeting Minutes

Attending: Steven Lazarus (COE), Korhan Oyman, (COA), Marcus Hohlmann (COS), Linda Khan
(Library), Rhoda Baggs (UC), Jason Ball (IT), Thomas Harrell (COP), Richard Newman, Mary
Bonhomme (APOL)
Meeting was called to order at 3:30 pm.
Minutes for October 31, 2008 were approved as distributed.
Dr. Lazarus will talk with Dr. Hohlmann regarding the Minigrant “Statement of Benefit”
Fundraising ideas were discussed. Ideas included: endowment money for a new faculty desktop
computer, endowment money for high performance computing, minigrant money for faculty development
awards, equipment for the Teaching Technology Center, enhanced Instructional Technologies, licenses
and software, endowed chair for Technology, technology for synchronized teaching (e.g., remote
delivery/feed in real-time), video conferencing equipment, studio enhancement, modern wireless network
(dorms, entire campus, open areas). Potential donors will be named.
Committee Reports
ITEC & IT – Jason Ball
A new e-commerce system from Touchnet will be going live in the Spring.
Departments have been established for document management and viewing (scanning and digitizing).
Full implementation is expected by Summer with training information forthcoming.
New data storage network equipment has been purchased. It will be synched through Atlanta for
emergencies.
Linda Khan requests a Library participant on the Web Advisory Committee.
Jason requests a volunteer to be a member of the Email Advisory Committee. Dr. Lazarus will contact a
colleague for an outside member.
ADITC – Dr. Bonhomme
Jason Ball update the committee on ADITC as Dr. Bonhomme was not in attendance at the last meeting.
PDP Professional Development Program) registration software is currently being worked on for nondegree seeking courses, e.g., pay-as-you-go courses like MatLab for non-degree seeking students.
New rules for bulk mailing are now in effect. You will pay a penalty if the rules are not followed.
A revamping of Banner is underway. This will be a modern version/browser based.
The Higher Education Opportunity Act was revised and reauthorizes the Higher Education Act indicating
stronger enforcement requirements. ACITC may be able to help disseminate new rules to faculty and
staff.

The Minigrant Announcement and Faculty Showcase have been posted to Facforum. A suggestion was
made to open it up to other tech development like RefWorks.
Other Business
Linda Khan presented a demonstration of RefWorks.
There was no other business and the meeting was adjourned at 4:30 pm.
