Second Grade
Reading
Students are focusing on both
non- fiction and fiction texts.
Students will be asking and
answering questions as well as
identifying the main purpose
of the text. Students will be
recounting literary texts,
asking and answering
questions, and identifying a
character’s point of view.
Writing
Over the next couple of weeks
we will be writing narrative
pieces. Students have been
identifying the story elements of
a traditional folktale in their
classroom. Using information
gathered during their country
research project, students will
change story elements of the
folktale to reflect the
characteristics of their countries.
Math
Students will continue to work
on addition and subtraction
within 100. They will solve
different types of word problems
involving addition and
subtraction. We will then start
working with money. Students
will identify the value of
individual coins as well as the
value of a group of coins up to
$1. They will then start working
with coins and bills to add and
subtract in word problems.
Science & Social
In science, Studies
students will work
on identifying and describing
minute parts of an object. We
will then transition to describing
the observable properties of
stars and the moon.
In social studies, we will discuss
how technology affects daily
life. We will also identify types
of transportation from the past
and present.

Lectura
Los estudiantes se centraran en
libros de no-ficción y de ficción. Los
estudiantes estarán preguntando y
respondiendo preguntas, e
identificando el propósito principal
del texto. Los estudiantes relataran
textos literarios, haran y
responderan preguntas, e
identificaran el punto de vista de
un personaje.
Escritura
Durante el próximo par de
semanas estaremos escribiendo
piezas narrativas. Los estudiantes
han estado identificando los
elementos de la historia de un
cuento tradicional en su salón de
clases. Usaran la información
recopilada durante su proyecto de
investigación de un país, y los
estudiantes van a cambiar
elementos de la historia del cuento
popular para reflejar las
características
de sus países.
Matematica
Los estudiantes continuarán
trabajando con las sumas y restas
hasta 100. Ellos van a resolver
diferentes tipos de problemas que
involucren las sumas y la restas.
A continuación, se comenzará a
trabajar con el dinero. Los
estudiantes identificarán el valor
de las monedas individuales, así
como el valor de un grupo de
monedas hasta $1. A
continuación, empezaran a
trabajar con monedas y billetes
para sumar y restar en problemas
con palabras.
Ciencia y Estudios
Sociales
En ciencias, los estudiantes
