Summary Statement: State the major function(s) of the position and its role in the university. Reporting to the Web Editor / Project Manager within the University of Nevada, Reno’s (UNR) Integrated Marketing team, the Specialist, Web Communications is responsible for various types of marketing-based writing, including writing for the Web, promotional materials, advertisements, video and other persuasive writing. The position assists with web publishing, project coordination duties, and serves as a marketing liaison to multiple university units. 2. List the major responsibilities, including percentage of time devoted to each. Provide enough detail to enable a person outside the department to understand the job (percentage first with heading and then bulleted information). 65% - Marketing-Based Writing Write narrative prose, explanatory text, headlines and calls to action for university websites and print publications Write scripts for advertising and marketing videos Write advertising copy for print, television and display advertising Conduct background interviews with pertinent on-campus subject experts 15% - Project Coordination Participate in creative direction discussions Shepherd projects to completion by working with team members to maintain creative direction of the final product Interact with clients to ensure that their needs are met AND that the project benefits the university as a whole 10% Web Publishing Edit and publish content on news and events websites Work within a content management system to write, edit and publish information on the Web 10% - Marketing Education and Outreach Use social media to keep other university units informed about Integrated Marketing efforts and projects Produce white papers and presentations educating other university units about best practices and trends in higher education marketing 3.
