University of Houston Division of Administration and Finance Department of Public Safety Press Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ginger Walker Administrative Assistant 713-743-0583 gkwalker@uh.edu Fire Safety Team at Work The fire breaks out under the hood of a car outside the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. Fire Marshal’s Office Employees extinguish the fire minutes after it starts. You never know when and where a fire may occur. Being prepared is always a major part of your job as a Fire Marshal with the Department of Public Safety. Last week a vehicle in the parking lots alongside the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center building caught on fire and the Department of Public Safety responded. The meaning of teamwork for the Department of Public Safety means having the dispatcher receive the call and send the correct message out on the airwaves, having the Fire and Life Safety team respond once the transmission is sent, having the Police Officer arrive on the scene to assist while the fire is being extinguished and most of all having the campus community member call 713-743-3333 as soon as the fire has been spotted. If something is out of the ordinary, call UHDPS right away. Stay safe and make that call.
