Position Title: REC Program Assistant
Time Base: Maximum 15 hours/week
Position Reports to: Recreation Program Specialist
Exempt or Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Under general supervision, the REC Program Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all
patrons and guests of the Clarke Field House, while serving as an ambassador of ‘REC” working to increase student
life, campus climate, and promote programs throughout campus.
Positions Requirements







Must be continuously enrolled at least half-time during the academic year. Undergraduate students
(including credential students) must be continuously enrolled for a minimum of 6 units. Graduate students
must be continuously enrolled for a minimum of 4 graduate level units.
Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
Must have (or obtain within first three months of employment) CPR, First Aid, AED certification.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work well with diverse groups, and event types including events for and by students, faculty,
university departments, and community groups.
Ability to be organized, outgoing and reliable
Must be available to work some week nights as well as afternoons on Friday and weekends.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
















Attend and assist with Campus Recreation meetings to determine operations priorities, timelines, and tasks.
Provide customer support to the campus community
Attend all required Clarke student assistant training programs
Set-up/remove chairs, tables, decorations, and the gymnasium floor covering.
Set-up equipment for intramural programs, check in and score keeping
Assist with event support, coordination, set-up, and clean-up including trash removal.
Assist with cleaning, organizing, and storing equipment related to building events.
Post publicity and set-up and retrieve A-frames for promoting Clarke events.
Provide customer support for event coordinators and attendees.
Prioritize safety and risk management at all times.
Assist in other areas of the building as needed.
Assist in organizing and implementing recreation programs and activities.
Comply with all university and Clarke/Campus Recreation policies and procedures.
Attend scheduled meetings, retreats, conferences, and other professional development opportunities as
needed.
May be required to work some nights and weekends
Perform other duties as required
Program Coordinator will have the opportunity to (or will be requested to) work additional hours assisting with
Campus REC events.
Hourly Rate: Starting at $10.50/hour
