Position Title: Recreation Manager
Reports To: Assistant Director of Facility Operations - Campus Recreation
Graduate Assistant of Facility Operations – Campus Recreation
Job Description
Under the direction of the Graduate Assistant of Facility Operations, the Recreation Manager will act as
the initial contact person while on shift, providing safety and security, supervision, customer service,
and facility management. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
 Report to and work the duration of assigned shift or find appropriate substitute.
 Ensure facilities, programs and services are open and operational during operating hours.
 Ensure safe and secure facilities for areas of responsibility.
 Greet patrons in a positive and courteous manner, meeting their needs whenever possible.
 Conducting regular facility rounds and documenting hourly participation counts as required.
 Ensure each person using Campus Recreation facilities is a member or program participant;
check membership cards as necessary.
 Follow the Campus Recreation Emergency Action Plan (EAP) as necessary.
 Ensure neatness and cleanliness of facilities and programs of responsibility.
 Provide oversight of other team members, making sure they are at their posts on time and acting
within department policies and procedures.
 Assist other Campus Recreation program areas as needed.
 Maintain communication with other team members throughout shift.
 Promptly report all unsafe conditions and concerns to supervisor and document all
incidents/accidents through use of Campus Recreation forms.
 Assist in training new staff.
 Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
 Current University at Albany Student
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to listen and interact
with others.
 Exhibit a personal commitment to fulfilling job responsibilities.
 Display professional behavior, including reliability, confidentiality and respect for others.
 Ability to take action to complete tasks.
 Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of University at Albany Campus Recreation.
 Certified in Red Cross, CPR, First Aid, AED and blood borne pathogens or willing to obtain
preferred.
 Prior work experience (1-3 years) with supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Requirements
This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting,
reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking,
hearing, and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors and constantly moving around the
facility. Be able to lift 50 lbs.
