Position Title: Membership Services Representative
Reports To: Program Coordinator, Personnel
Job Description
Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Membership Services Representative (MSR) will provide
excellent customer service to members, through selling memberships, and answering questions. This
includes but is not limited to:
 Report to and work the duration of assigned shift or find appropriate substitute.
 Responsible for providing daily services to all members, prospective members and program
participants. This includes pleasantly welcoming all patrons to Campus Recreation facilities,
registering members for programs, membership sales, signing out equipment to patrons, and
assisting patrons with directions.
 Perform membership transactions and accurately input new membership sales, renewals and
programs into the membership database.
 Deposit all income as requested by Campus Recreation professional staff.
 Provide information to members as needed via telephone or in person, in a prompt and courteous
manner.
 Answer phones promptly, within 3 rings, in a courteous and friendly manner.
 Address patron questions in a positive manner, meeting their needs whenever possible.
 Ensure neatness of the Recreation Services area.
 Assist with lobby exhibits and/or bulletin boards.
 Serve as the “face” of Campus Recreation by being present in the Recreation Services office.
 Serve as a liaison between patrons and Campus Recreation professional staff.
 Promptly report all unsafe conditions and concerns to supervisor.
 May assist in training new staff.
 All other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
 Current University at Albany student.
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to listen and interact
with others.
 Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of University at Albany Campus Recreation.
 Exhibit a personal commitment to fulfilling job responsibilities.
 Display professional behavior, including reliability, confidentiality and respect for others.
 Ability to take action to complete tasks.
 Prior work experience (1-3 years) in a customer oriented environment is preferred.

Physical Requirements
This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting,
reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking,
hearing, and visual acuity. Candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs.
