POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: EXTENDED TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Manager Manager, Radio Station Operations Exempt CATEGORY: Professional GRADE: C JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the overall management, leadership, programming, finance and technical operation of the EPCC Radio Station. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the station to include managing various functions such as marketing, sales, etc. Responsible for training, managing and scheduling on and off air staff. Ensure program content complies with EPCC’s programming policies and requirements. 2. Participate in developing and administering strategic and operating plans for the station. Develop promotions and other advertising including development and maintenance of station web site and social networking strategies and expanding station programming. Organize and manage sales and marketing support for station. 20% 3. Oversee technical programming operations and program content, delivery, format and schedule to include reviewing music to be added to station’s playlist. 15% 4. Assist students in creating original programming and supervise remote broadcasts. Ensure safety measures are in place at the radio station for staff and the general public. 15% 5. Participate in the development of station goals, policies and procedures and ensure staff compliance. Oversee the station’s budget. 15% 6. Provide personnel management direction and guidance for staff assigned to department, including orientation, training, coaching, and administering performance appraisals. 5% 7. Effective: 05/10/12 Page 1 of 5 ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting or related field. EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years directly related experience. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of production techniques, procedures, and standards. Knowledge of all areas of broadcast; rules, regulations, and guidelines. Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles. Knowledge of radio program format and subject area. Ability to effectively communicate technical details, specifications and reasonable cost-effective solutions to management, staff and community partners. Skills in developing staff training plans to implement current technology trends for the Radio station. Ability to work collaboratively in developing partnerships and teamwork. Skills to effectively manage changes to support the implementation of new technologies and services. 2. Equipment Used: Standard DJ booth equipment including sound board, microphone, sound decks and amplifiers. Standard remote broadcast equipment including transmitter and receiver. Personal computer, fax, telephone, copier, and other equipment associated with an office environment. 3. Software Used: Industry-recognized audio editing software and song tracking programs in addition to Microsoft Office and Outlook programs and Photoshop. InDesign or other promotional material-generating software.
