JOB SUMMARY: Officers are responsible for providing protection and service to all students, faculty, staff, and the general public at all college campuses and facilities of the district. Provide enforcement and maintenance of law and order by continuous patrol, surveillance, crime prevention, and enforcement of all applicable laws of the city, county, state, and federal governments, in accordance with EPCC policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.
Patrol assigned college campuses and facilities by motor vehicle, bike, and foot.
Enforce all applicable laws of the city, county, state, and federal government, in accordance with college policies and procedures.

Answer calls from Central Dispatch to assist students, faculty, staff, and the general public with requests for service, civil and criminal complaints. Open and secure campus facilities on a daily basis; set alarms and security surveillance systems; monitor campus facilities via security surveillance systems and by mobile and foot patrol activities. Inspect premises for indications of criminal activity.

Conduct preliminary investigations; obtain information, documents, and file initial reports, witness statements, affidavits, and supplemental reports. Identify and make proper arrest(s) of offender(s) when required. Transport prisoners to local police stations, county jail for processing and booking. Testify in court when summoned.
Coordinate criminal investigation as required with the city, county, state, and federal agencies.

Provide first aid during medical emergencies; coordinate with EMS and Fire
Departments to transport persons from campus facilities to local hospitals when medical situations arise. Provide evacuation assistance and directions in emergency situations.
5.
Follow up on pending cases, transport persons or property, make presentations to students and staff on crime prevention and safety. Provide escorts for personal safety or to personnel making cash deposits. Assist with data entry for vehicle registration and issuance of vehicle parking decals. Provide courtesy services to motorist (e.g. automobile jump stars, unlock vehicles, etc.).
6.
Perform basic duties as terminal operator (dispatcher), including training and TLETS certification to obtain information through TCIC/NCIC.
7.
Perform other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED Equivalent Certificate.
EXPERIENCE: None
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES: Active Peace Officer License from the State of Texas
(TCLEOSE).
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must posses or obtain a valid Texas driver’s license
Provide proof of liability auto insurance
Must pass medical examination and psychological and drug screening as required by
TCLEOSE.

Must be familiar with and knowledgeable of use of force and arrest procedures, involving interaction with all local law enforcement agencies.

Safely operate a motor vehicle while responding to calls and driving within the district.
Knowledge and use of a hand-held radio
Proficient and qualified to carry an approved firearm and expendable baton
Familiarity with emergency equipment

Special Conditions:
Position requires irregular or extended work hours to include weekends and holidays.
Must be able to provide own personal transportation
Must be able to be contacted by phone when needed.
Must not having any arrest convictions as mandated by TCLEOSE or have any adverse or derogatory information that would reflect discredit upon law enforcement resulting from a background check.
