POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Employment Specialist Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified E JOB SUMMARY: Coordinate a variety of specialized complex tasks in support of processes and operations as it relates to employment and payroll processing for the District. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 20% 1. Responsible for operational and technical duties in the applicant tracking system to include employment application intake, screening, I-9 processing, computer entry, and file maintenance required by the College and regulatory agencies. 2. Assist staff and public with personnel information and interpretation of personnel policies and procedures within assigned area. 15% 3. Assist the manager with the employment process to include preparing and conducting orientations and salary placements for the District. 15% 4. Responsible for maintenance of confidential recruitment files, preparing recruitment lists, and job postings. Identify and resolve inconsistencies and other issues that might affect employment or pay. 15% 5. Maintain and process employee data information in human resource information system as it pertains to Employment Services. 15% 6. Assist manager with employee/personnel projects; generate and maintain various reports and documents to provide current personnel information from the applicant tracking database. 15% 7. Skills/Abilities: Effective communication skills, verbally and in writing; Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the institution, to include faculty and administration; Knowledge of principles, best practices, and trends in Human Resources and payroll management; Current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hours laws. Good interpersonal and organizational skills, with attention to detail and follow through; Ability to utilize computer technology to access data and generate reports; Time management, prioritizing and multi-tasking skills. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer, fax, telephone, copier, and other equipment associated with an office environment. 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, presentation software, and integrated information system (i.e. Banner).
