JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for providing the administrative leadership in the operation of the
District-Wide Library Technical Services and of the Valle Verde Library.

1.
Develop, recommend and evaluate short and long term departmental goals
and objectives; develop, recommend and monitor assigned budgets; ensure
compliance with approved College policies; monitor quality of work and
complete state and national surveys.
2.
Develop, direct, implement and evaluate services and procedures related to
the acquisition, receipt, fiscal accounting, cataloging, processing and
distribution of print and non-print material for the college libraries.

3.
Assure that District policies, procedures, and regulations are used to guide the
operational activities of the department; maintain quality control of the Valle
Verde Library Services; work with District faculty and staff to ensure the
Library is meeting the needs of the students, faculty programs, and
community.

4.
Provide personnel management direction and guidance to staff/faculty i.e.,
orientation, evaluation, performance appraisal, coaching, personal and
professional development.

5.
Provide direction, supervise and manage the resource sharing services of the
District-wide Library System; coordinate distance education services for the
Valle Verde Library.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS), Master of Arts, Master of
Librarianship, Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS) and Master of Science from an
American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution.
EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years experience.

Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with a general office
environment (copier, phone, fax, etc.)

Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and
presentation software.
