A graduate of Lyons Township High School, Reisch (right) earned an Associate in Science degree and is transferring to the University of Illinois-Chicago. Thome (left) is a former educator who returned to school and earned an Associate in Applied Science degree in Graphic Design. Kudos to… the College’s 18 faculty members who have been recognized as the 2012-2013 Outstanding Divisional Faculty Members at College of DuPage. Kudos to…COD Librarian Mary Konkel, who has been elected as a delegate to the Online Computer Library Center Global Council. The OCLC Global Council supports the OCLC mission of “furthering access to the world’s information and reducing the rate of rise of library costs” by serving as a key link between member libraries and OCLC management, thus facilitating communication and responding to expressed concerns from Global Council members, general library members, and others to help shape future directions of the organization. Konkel’s three-year term begins in July. She will represent the Americas Regional Council, which includes delegates from Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean and the United States. This U.S. State Department program brings students to community colleges to develop leadership, professional skills and English language proficiency. Our students will study applied engineering, interior design, business and early childhood education. They will participate in community service, internships and cultural enrichment activities. This year’s students who arrive in mid-July are from India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Turkey, Egypt, South Africa, Cote d-Ivoire and Ghana. This summer, be part of the adventure by becoming a social host! Social hosts are asked to commit to one or two days of contact with the student each month. This might include a home-cooked meal, a local outing or an invitation to a holiday or family celebration.
