News From Mrs. Rowe and Mr. Miller
We have had a busy week in our classrooms. On Friday, we sold items
for the first time. This will continue through out the year as students
have the opportunity to sell on a volunteer basis. More information
will be sent home about that.
Please note that planners are not filled out regularly as we do not
have nightly homework.
Have a wonderful weekend with your families!

Reading & Writing Workshop
In reading workshop this week, we focused
our time on writing strong book summaries.
We determined that a summary is full of book
facts such as characters, setting, beginning,
middle, and end of the story. One class
started their blogs this week and the other will
begin next week through kidblog. This will be
a biweekly assignment.
In writing workshop this week, we dove into
our narrative unit. We are working on how to
write like authors through dialogue, focus,
and details. This work will continue to for the
next several weeks as we continue to grow as
writers.
Social Studies
This week we shifted our focus to
mapping. We are spending some time
on geography where we will learn how
to create and read maps.
Math Workshop
This week in math we completed our
unit on adding and
subtracting decimals. The
test was today. Results will
be posted next week. Our
next topic will be on
multiplying whole numbers. This is a
great time to study math facts.
Word Study
In word study, we continued our unit on Greek and
Latin roots. Our current focus is on words with
aqua and hydra present. These roots mean water.
A test will be given on Thursday, October 1.
