ELA- Tell about parts of a book, identify 16 letters, know 16 or more sounds of letters and 24 sight words, have a conversations with others about text including unknown words, & Draw a picture to share information about a book. Reading at level RB. Math- Tell where objects are using positional words, recognize and Writing numbers to 5, say a number for each object I touch without touching any object twice. –( 0-10 objects), I can sort objects-(no shapes) and then compare using least to greatest. use words like big and little to talk about the size of something, use words like long and short to talk about the length of something, use words like heavy and light to talk about the weight of something, I can use an attribute to sort groups, recognize, draw, & build flat shapes, Tell about shapes in your world using positional words, rote count to 25, count a group of objects and write the matching number up to 5, & add one more to a group and tell how many there are. Our students are making great improvements on their book and print awareness skills. Here are some ideas of things you can practice with them while you read together. -Show me the first letter in a word -Show me the last letter in a word. -Put one letter between your pointer fingers -Put two letters between your pointer fingers -put one word between your pointer fingers -put two words between your pointer fingers. -what is the period for at the end of the sentence. Ask questions about the story after you read it. Who are the characters, What is the setting, Was there a problem in the story, How did they solve it, Tell the order of events in the story (sequence), Did you like the story and why or why not?
