We would like to officially replace his position with the same number of hours and months per year. It is a 10 month, 26 hour per week position. This position serves students 100% of the time at our public service desks. What educational programs or institutional purposes does this position support? How does the request relate specifically to your Program Review, the College’s Strategic Plan, and/or Accreditation Recommendations? In support of the College Mission, the Library continues to acquire and maintain a diverse collection of information resources and services. This position helps to: • facilitate access to information by providing multiple access points that support diverse student needs • teach students, faculty, classified professionals, and administrators how to find, evaluate, and ethically use information in their respective academic, professional and personal lives • maintain library operation at a high level of professionalism and service • create a safe and welcoming environment where all students want to come • foster lifetime relationships with libraries Where will the individual work? What is the consequence of not funding this position? Service to students will be directly impacted. 100% of work hours are dedication to customer service. This positions facilities access to library materials (laptops, av materials, books, reference books) and also assists students using stand alone computers in our 113 seat computer lab. This position is also responsible for opening the library at 7:00 a.m. each morning. What other personnel currently provide support to this program and these students? The library has three other full-time library technicians and 1 half-time library technician. We are open 58.5 hours each week and staff two service desks each hour that the library is open.
