Funding Source: 100 ☐ ✔ General ☐ Categorical ☐ Grant Grant name: % % % Justification: Why is this position necessary? The RLBV& Performing Arts Center currently is busy 175 days/yr. The center supports events hosted by the College, the District, local community (dance, speakers, concerts, films), and regional, state and international artists who are drawn to our unique venue and outstanding service. This level of activity at ANY OTHER theater of this size has an operating staff of up to five. We have had only ONE for six years. It does speak well to efficiency, work flow, interaction and communication. This position works in direct support of the Manager, leaving the techs to do their work instead of being imposed upon when they are already pressed. Could also be useful in college and community outreach/marketing. What educational programs or institutional purposes does this position support? How does the request relate specifically to your Program Review, the College’s Strategic Plan, and/or Accreditation Recommendations? Would work to support all College and District events with coordination and execution. Would work closely with College Music, Theater, and other production centric groups. Would also work closely with Box-Office and Audience Services. Primarily this is the vetting agent for all events and helps to plan technicals needs, timing, and mitigate any issues, in concert with the Theater Manager. Where will the individual work? To whom will the person report? Are there any special equipment/facilities needs to be considered? Bldg 1300/1200 and associated areas. Reports to Theater Manager. Needs an office environment. Meets with groups large and small on a very regular basis. What is the consequence of not funding this position? People like me leave. What alternative approaches have been considered in meeting the programmatic demands of this request? This position is crucial to the running of the Performing Arts Center. For SIX years the current manager has had to do this job as well as the job of Theater Manager. The alternative approach has been to ignore the problem, and therefore has burned out the manager. How will the campus community (students, staff, faculty, and community) be positively impacted by filling this position? They will be better served by a fully professionally run operation, that is responsive, engaged. What other personnel currently provide support to this program and these students? One current Stage Tech has taken a few of the duties over, otherwise the Theater Manager does the best that can be done, and tries to keep current on all aspects. Job description for the position is attached. Requested by: Kari McAllister Area Manager Notes/Response: Date: 1/8/16 Area Manager: Date:
