Funding Source: 100 ☐ ✔ General ☐ Categorical ☐ Grant Grant name: % % % Justification: Why is this position necessary? The RLBV& Performing Arts Center currently is busy 175 days/yr. The center supports events hosted by the College, the District, local community (dance, speakers, concerts, films), and regional, state and international artists who are drawn to our unique venue and outstanding service. At this time ALL groups are responsible for their own Box-Office/ticketing. This is a loss of revenue and control. As well the job of "Audience Services" which includes Box-Office, ticket sales, ticket-taking, Ushering, Hospitality and Safety services. Both Box-Office and House Managing requires a person who is able to coordinate both. Box office also includes contact with the public, some marketing, and accounting. What educational programs or institutional purposes does this position support? How does the request relate specifically to your Program Review, the College’s Strategic Plan, and/or Accreditation Recommendations? Most College events that require tickets as either revenue or attendance control/audit. All outside events that contract with the College facilities. Where will the individual work? To whom will the person report? Are there any special equipment/facilities needs to be considered? Bldg 1300/1200 and associated areas. Reports to Theater Manager or Operations Coordinator, with direct oversight from the Office of Administrative Services. What is the consequence of not funding this position? We simply continue to not engage in the revenues from ticketing. we do not control the language on the tickets pertaining to things like "Parking", "Loss Prevention", alcohol, firearms and other terms that can be added language to the back of all tickets, which are contracts with the public. What alternative approaches have been considered in meeting the programmatic demands of this request? Everyone does their own thing. How will the campus community (students, staff, faculty, and community) be positively impacted by filling this position? They will be better served by a fully professionally run operation, revenues for improvements, reputation for a one-stop service. Could actually have a class that would encompass Box-office and audience services. What other personnel currently provide support to this program and these students? Currently none. We do have six Professional Experts classified as "Audience Services Specialist". They act as Ticket-takers, ushers, hospitality, safety. NOTE: No one is allowed to at any time handle any cash, sell tickets, etc., as we have no one BONDED legally to act in that capacity. This a large area of liability and if not done properly "will" at some point come back to bite. Requested by: Kari McAllister Area Manager Notes/Response: Date: 1/8/16 Area Manager: Date:
